Charles Ramsey is a hero after hearing screams for help from an Ohio home, which led him to the discovery of three women- Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus Michelle Knight who were missing for years.

"This girl is kicking the door and screaming," Ramsey told NBC station WKYC-TV. "So I go over there ... and I say, 'Can I help? What's going on?' And she says, 'I've been kidnapped, and I've been in this house a long time. I want to leave right now.'"

Ramsey, who lives across the street from the home said he allowed the woman to use his phone to call 911, and was shocked when he realized that the woman was actually Berry, the woman who had been missing for 10 years.

"Help me. I'm Amanda Berry,'' Berry told a 911 dispatcher. ''I've been kidnapped and I've been missing for 10 years and I'm, I'm here, I'm free now.'

"We had to kick open the bottom," Ramsey said. "Lucky on that door it was aluminum. It was cheap. She climbed out with her daughter."

Ramsey spoke to reporters and said that he hung out with the Ariel Castro, the 52-year-old man who is the identified suspect for the kidnappings. Police said that the man and two of his brothers have been been arrested.

Another neighbor Mike Iwais, who lived in a house just a couple of hundred feet from where the women were found, told The Plain Dealer newspaper that he was stunned.

"I used to see him [Castro] walking around all the time," the paper quoted him as saying. "But I never saw nothing crazy. This is unbelievable. It's a miracle they found him, and it's a miracle those girls are alive. It's a blessing from God."

Berry went missing while walking home from her job at Burger King on the west side of Cleveland.

Berry's co-worker at the time, Jennifer Picart, who worked with her the night she went missing said she was the last to see her before she vanished.

"They asked me where is she at. I said, 'I walked her out all the way to the end of the parking lot and the drive through and she started walking home,'" Picart said.

All three women were rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center, and were said to be recovering from dehydration and malnourishment.
