She and Steve (Stephen Nichols) have been in agony over the fate of their snatched son since the escaped convicts grabbed him during an attack at their home, and after the latest update on what happened at the warehouse Joey (James Lastovic) had been kept at, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) will finally lose her sense of calm over the situation on Days of Our Lives.

Joe was the first hostage taken by Orpheus (George Del Hoyo), Xander (Paul Telfer) and Clyde (James Read), and later joined by Claire (Olivia Keegan). The pair were able to activiate the GPS signal inside a necklace John (Drake Hogestyn) has given her, leading him and Steve to the warehouse in an attempt to rescue them both. However, Orpheus figured out the truth about the GPS signal and shots were fired.

In the midst of the shoot-out, both teens managed to loosen the ropes that were holding them in their chairs, but only Claire was able to escape. Later, when John and Steve returned with reinforcements, they were dismayed to realize the convicts had fled, and taken Joey with them.

Now, Kayla will be devastated as she realizes her son is in even more danger now than he was before, because before, while the situation was grim, Joey was simply going to be a means to an end for the convicts, the hostage they held for ransom and who they would released unharmed once their demands were met. But now, with them on the run again, and possibly in more of a mood to harm Joey, and more desperate to take action that will benefit them, there could be significantly more dangerous and dire conditions that Joey will face. If they can't find him and rescue him in time, Kayla and Steve could find that their worst fears could become a reality-and their son could become a true victim of the crime spree, and the first casualty.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
