A beloved middle school teacher died Tuesday after choking before a Cubs game on Sunday.

Maureen Oleskiewicz, a 28-year-old language arts teacher, was kept alive at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center until Tuesday morning after going into cardiac arrest following a choking incident, reports ABC.

The Orland Park, Ill. Teacher was in the Wrigley Field stands with her brother Martin when she choked on a hot dog just before the national anthem.

"They're sitting there eating lunch before the game, looking at the field and the next thing she's on the floor," said Margaret Oleskiewicz, the deceased's mother, according to the Chicago Sun Times. "He didn't even know she was in distress and then she's on the floor."

Maureen taught at Independence Junior High in Palos Heights, the same school she had attended as a child, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

"There is no magic wand to fix what we cannot comprehend," District 128 Supt. Kathleen Casey stated, according to ABC. "Maureen had a positive impact on countless students, parents and...colleagues. Her vibrant, positive outlook on life and her joyful nature will be missed more than words can convey."

Maureen donated her organs, and her family states that her heart went to a 14-year-old girl reports Fox.
