A woman visiting Hampton, Va. flushed $22,000 down the drain last Friday.

Jenna Wolfe accidently flushed her diamond anniversary ring down the toilet on Friday, according to the Today Show.

Wolfe claims to have removed the ring while washing her hands. However, while the toilet was in the process of flushing, Wolfe accidently knocked the ring off the counter, according to the Inquisitr.

The Epoch Times reports that her first attempts to rescue the pricy bauble via plunger were ultimately unsuccessful. Undeterred, Wolfe contacted a plumber in hopes that a professional would be able to search the drains.

However, it wasn't until Tuesday that the ring was actually retrieved by city wastewater employees.

According to the Daily Press, Wolfe was under the impression that the Department of Public Works was closed on the weekends and did not contact the sanitation company until Monday.

Workers placed a trap on the waterline and later found the ring amongst other debris.

"We cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who had a role in recovering this very special ring to us," Wolfe wrote in a note to the City of Hampton, according to the Inquisitr. "It's not only the monetary value of the ring, but also the sentimental value that could not be replaced. Please do anything and everything you can to acknowledge their dedication, honesty and hard work,"

The Daily Press reports that each employee who aided in the recovery was presented with a $25 gift card by the city.
