The Vampire Chronicles author, Anne Rice, just reclaimed full rights for the theatrical adaptation of her well-loved book series. With the writer in total control, fans of the undead may just see the best vampire series to ever set foot in the small screen.

Rice hopes to create a The Vampire Chronicles TV series in Game of Thrones style, IGN reports. Now that she has regained full rights to the adaptations of her book series, the writer's wish may just become a reality.

In the Facebook post written by the 75-year old author, she revealed, "The theatrical rights to Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear!" Rice also mentioned that she dreams of creating a vampire series "of the highest quality."

The American writer also addressed the series' fans in her post. She said that she is aware of their request to see a Game of Thrones-esque interpretation of the upcoming TV series. By this, aficionados meant an authentic rendering of Lestat and the rest of the beloved Rice vampires' stories.

"I have heard you. I have always heard you. What you want is what I want," the author assured fans.

Originally, Universal and Imagine Entertainment obtained the cinematic rights to the vampire novel series, The Hollywood Reported noted. The film outfit had planned to give life to the Vampire Lestat, an 18th-century French noble who turned into a vampire. The story would have been set in 2014.

However, Rice realized that The Vampire Chronicles would work better on the small screen as a series, given the vast and rich storyline she has created for her characters.

"Though we had the pleasure of working with many fine people in connection with this plan, it did not work out," Anne said about the unsuccessful collaboration with the two film companies. "It is, more than ever, abundantly clear that television is where the vampires belong."

As of the moment, Rice is helming a script for the pilot and is working with her son, Christopher Rice, to map out an outline for an open-ended series. Christopher is set to executive produce the planned TV series.

If Rice's plan pans out, The Vampire Chronicles may very well be the next biggest series on television in recent times. Watch out for more updates as the story about this series develops.
