Bacon Bacon came under fire last year from locals who complained that the pork-themed restaurant was creating an overpowering smell of bacon.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, Bacon Bacon changed ownership since the complaints began but even after the switch, problems continued.

The complaints were not limited to the smell. Neighbors also charged that a food truck was illegally parked and that bacon grease was being disposed of directly into the sewer system.

The restaurant was given until May 17 to resolve issues and to obtain the proper permits according to the Health Department. However, the permit process was inhibited by the opposing neighbor who had launched complaints with the Planning Department states ABC.

However, not everyone is against the small Upper Haight business. An online petition had garnered over 1,600 signatures in support of the restaurant, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

"You have, like, 30 head shops on Haight Street and places that smell pretty bad," said local Nate Lozier, according to ABC. "The smell of this place is not the worse in the Haight, yeah."
