He's had a rough few months following a major scandal during the Rio Olympics, but 2016 is ending on a bright note for Swimmer Ryan Lochte, who has announced that he and fiancee Kayla Rae Reid are expecting their first child together!

The couple each took to their social media accounts to share the news, sharing similar photos of Reid standing in a pool while Lochte swims up to her underneath the water, grabs her hips, and kisses her belly.

"My Christmas gift came early this year, can't wait for next year! Best news I've ever received #CLOUD9 #excited #family #love #2017," Lochte captioned his post.

"Just when you think you have it all figured out, life always surprises you with blessings when least expect it. So excited to share this news with all of you! #weareprego #omg #2017," Reid wrote.

The pair first went public with their at the time, on/off relationship, over the summer when Reid went to visit Lochte at the Olympics in Rio, where he won a gold medal for the men's 4x200m freestyle relay, his 12th overall.

Lochte later admitted that he had relied on support from Reid after "Lochtegate," where he claimed to have been robbed and held at gunpoint during the Rio games, only for the truth to surface that he had lied about the account and no robbery ever took place. He also had her support after his first appearance on Dancing With The Stars ended with a protester rushing the stage.

The pair became engaged in October, when Lochte surprised Reid, a Playboy model, with a private helicopter tour of L.A. that finished off with a sunset proposal near the Pacific Ocean.
