After a weekend of deadly tornados and severe weather, on Monday the Midwest continues to be pummeled by a storm system that stretches form Texas to Minnesota.

Moore, Okla., a suburb of Oklahoma City, was devastated by a mile-wide tornado on Monday afternoon.

According to CNN, over 171,000 people could have been in the tornado's trajectory.

Residents were given 16 minutes of warning before the storm hit, The National Weather Service told USA Today. However, that may not have been enough time for people to brace for what NBC News is claiming could have been an EF5 tornado, meaning the storm reached the most severe classification and could have produced winds in excess of 200 mph.

According to CNN, the damage was "apocalyptic." It is reported that two elementary schools were in the path of the storm and suffered severe damage. These two schools were listed as Oklahoma City's Briarwood Elementary and Moore's Plaza Towers Elementary. There is no word on the condition of students.

Those who have sustained injuries are being sent to Norman Regional Hospital and Health Plex Hospital after Moore Medical Center was evacuated reports CNN. Meanwhile, the search for trapped survivors is being conducted by search and rescue workers from Warren Theater in Moore reports Fox.
