CBS Pulls Tornado Episode of 'Mike & Molly' In Light of Oklahoma Tornado [VIDEO]
CBS pulled Monday night's season finale of Mike & Molly for its tornado plot line, in light of the devastating tornado that struck Oklahoma the same day.
The mile-wide tornado caused damage in Oklahoma City and its suburbs on Monday afternoon. The Molly episode part of the show's third season, which is set in Chicago, is called Windy City and involves a tornado hitting Chicago.
"Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight's season finale of Mike & Molly, which has a related storyline," the network said Monday in a statement. "A repeat broadcast of Mike & Molly will run in the time period. The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date."
The episode description stated: "Mike and Carl get stuck working at the Renaissance Faire after their boss, Patrick, gets dumped by Mike's mother. Later, as a tornado descends on Chicago, Mike and Molly each confess important news to each other."
The comedic series stars Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell.
The tornado killed 51 lives, reported so far by the Oklahoma state medical examiner. Several celebrities took to Twitter to react to the tragic event and Dancing with the Stars held a moment of silence in its live Monday night episode. Gov. Mary Fallin on Monday declared a state of emergency for 16 counties that were affected by tornadoes, severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding.
Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather wrote on Twitter, "My heart goes out to everyone feeling the impact of the tornadoes in the OKC area. Stay safe and #PrayforOklahoma."
"I just can't believe the scale of that tornado that touched down in Moore. A mile wide?!?" tweeted Neil Patrick Harris. "My condolences go out to everyone affected."
