Rick and Morty fans have been waiting for Season 3 with bated breath and the short clip that was released by Adult Swim some time back has only increased their excitement. Sadly, no release date has been announced and now creator Dan Harmon has spoken about the long delay.

While speaking at Sundance, Harmon told the audience that he was sorry as he does not have a release date for Season 3, claims The Independent Culture. The creator of the cult cartoon series explained that it is not that he knows it and is not allowed to say it. He said that what he will tell is that it is late because of him and Justin Roiland.

He also said that if Justin were there he would agree. According to Harmon, Rick and Morty keeps taking longer and longer to write and he does not know why. Shedding light on the reason, he revealed that he and Justin have fights all the time and then they have fights about why they were having fights. So, it is clear that it is the creative differences between the co-creators that have taken a toll on Season 3.

Season 2 did not face such delay and Harmon explained the cause as well. This was because there was no fight at that time. However, it does not seem like Season 3 is not coming at all as Harmon did not speak out when asked about the details of the same. He merely said that he does not want to get murdered outside the building, claims ComicBook.com.

Notably, the last episode of Rick and Morty aired around one and a half year back. Though the producers had promised that the show would be back in 2016, it did not happen. 2017 is here and January would be over as well in a few days. Apart from the brief sneak peek of the developing process, nothing has been teased about Season 3.

Nevertheless, now that Dan Harmon has disclosed the reason for the delay of Rick and Morty Season 3, fans can only hope that they sort out their differences and come up with the story soon.
