Luis Suarez has confirmed his departure from Liverpool this summer, as reported by Fox Sports.

"My reason for leaving is not the money. If it were the money I would have left already," he said in a press conference in Uruguay on Thursday night. "My main reason is my family and my image."

The 26-year-old striker said he doesn't feel he has been treated properly while playing for Liverpool.

"The coach and my colleagues know that they didn't treat me well here. I don't feel comfortable here anymore," he continued. "So I think it's understandable that I leave."

However, it wasn't only the team he was unhappy with. Suarez pointed his finger at the media, as well.

"Firstly, being persecuted from the paparazzi all the time. I couldn't go to my garden or the supermarket. I couldn't do anything. I know it's normal being followed by the press, but it was too much. All silly things they said about me, all the pictures, all the taunts," he said.

Despite his feelings of mistreatment, the Uruguayan native has seen much success in his career upon singing with Liverpool in January 2011. He scored 30 goals just last season. Still, he has also been involved in controvesry, as well.

Two years ago, he was banned for eight games after he reportedly said a racial slur to Manchester United player Patrice Evra, as reported by BBC. He is also currently banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea's defender Branislav Ivanovic.

In a May interview with the Uruguayan radio station Sport 890, Suarez said he would love to play for Real Madrid.

"I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid. There are a lot of rumors in the transfer period, but you never know until firm offers are made," he said.

Liverpool, however, responded, "The Club remains supportive of Luis and expect him to honor his contract. We will not be making any further comment at this stage."
