Louis C.K., creator of FX's comedy series Louie, is projected to win the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the Critics Choice TV Awards, according to CarterMatt.

C.K. is up against several heavy hitters for the award, including Don Cheadle for Showtime's House of Lies, Jim Parsons for CBS' The Big Bang Theory, Jake Johnson for Fox's New Girl, Adam Scott for NBC's Parks and Recreation and Jeremy Sisto who stars in Suburgatory on ABC.

C.K. is favored to win the award with his closest competition considered to be Parsons for his turn in season 6 of Big Bang Theory

According to the site, the awards show has a tendency to recognize more "indie" programs than the Emmys and is less likely to mimic the voting patterns of the larger awards show.

Louie received four nominations, including one for Best Comedy Series.

FX delayed the return of season 4 of Louie from summer 2013 to spring 2014, as per C.K.'s request, Enstarz reported.

Comedian and television creator C.K. said he needs a longer hiatus to recharge and work on Season 4 of the FX series.

C.K. writes, shoots and often edits his own show. He also has a large role in creating the Louie soundtrack. He said that he hopes to turn the show into something great with more time to develop the next season.

HBO led the networks in most nominations with 21, followed by FX, which collected 19. Topping the list of nominated series are The Big Bang Theory and FX's American Horror Story: Asylum with six nominations each. Other series with multiple nominations include Parks and Recreation and Sundance's Top of the Lake with five each. FX's The Americans, AMC's Breaking Bad, HBO's Game of Thrones, CBS' The Good Wife, Fox's New Girl and Political Animals, which airs on USA, join Louie with four each.

Actress and stand-up comedian Retta, currently appearing as Donna Meagle on Parks and Recreation, will host the award show. She has appeared in numerous films and television shows and has performed on Comedy Central's Premium Blend.
