Next week, CBS network's police procedural crime drama thriller, "Criminal Minds" season 12 is coming back with the sixteenth episode. Intense and exciting events are still looked forward by the fans and viewers as the team takes on a new case and their fellow member still struggling in jail.

No new episode for "Criminal Minds" season 12 was aired this week due to the network's two-hour season premiere of its competitive reality television series, "Survivor: Game Changers." But despite the delay, several speculations have still been spreading on the web, regarding on the possible happenings that the fans might see on the upcoming episode.

On the previous episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12 aired last week with the title, "Alpha Male", it featured a new unsub whose modus operandi was to make his victims look ugly as he is. The BAU team set an investigation when a number of people have been disfigured because of a series of acid attacks that happened in the city of Philadelphia.

Also featured on the previous episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12 was Matthew Gray Gubler's character, Spencer Reid and his struggles of being in jail. It can be remembered that there was one person in prison whom Reid got acquainted with. He was Harold Perrineau's character Calvin Shaw, and it was reported that he had a dark past.

According to Carter Matt, on the upcoming episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12, the story behind Shaw's dark past will probably be revealed. It can be remembered that he talked to Reid about surviving in prison. However, it was not sure yet whether he really wanted to help the youngest BAU member or he has an ulterior motive behind his friendship.

It has been later known that Shaw was a former FBI worker and was sent to jail because of killing someone. As TV Guide reported, on the official promo for the sixteenth episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12, it's still not clear if Shaw would really like to help Reid especially now that a group of prisoners is planning on beating him up. The upcoming episodes of the series could show whether Shaw is a friend or an enemy of Reid.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 episode 16, "Assistance is Futile" airs March 15, 217 on CBS.
