Fans of the popular light manga novel turned anime television series, "Overlord," finally now have confirmation that season 2 is finally coming. It has been more than a year and a half since the first season of the anime had concluded and fans have been waiting patiently for its creators to announce 'Overlord' Season 2.

There was, of course, a lot of unanswered questions that were left when "Overlord" season 1 ended and 'Overlord' Season 2 is expected to answer some of those queries. The first season of the anime ended on Sept. 2015, and instead of developing the series' second season, the anime's creators instead focused on creating two theatrical adaptations.

After more than a year of development, the two movies were finally released. The first movie, titled "Overlord: The Undead King," was released last month on Feb. 25. The second movie, titled "Overlord: The Dark Warrior," followed shortly after and was actually just released last week. While most fans were expecting an announcement for the movie's sequel at the end of the film, they instead got a better surprise.

According to Anime News Network, a short announcement video was apparently shown at the end of the second movie where it was officially revealed that "Overlord" season 2 was going to be happening. The announcement also revealed that they will be continuing the story of Momoga and the rest of the Ainz Ooal Gown as they continue to figure out what has exactly happened within Yggdrasil.

"Overlord" season 1 was comprised of 13 episodes in total and was aired in Japan and simulcast by Funimation, as reported by Comic Book. A full Blue-ray Disc and DVD with English dub was released late last year and has been made available in North America. As of the moment, there is still no confirmation as to when exactly "Overlord" season 2 will be aired, but based on the announcement and the new artwork that has been released, that date will likely be sooner rather than later.
