Fans of Showtime's hit TV series, Dexter, surely have mixed feelings going into Season 8.  On one hand, they're eagerly awaiting the show's return, while on the other hand, the program will sadly be heading into its final installment.

The upcoming season is going to feature a criminologist by the name of Dr. Evelyn Vogel, (Charlotte Rampling) who takes a peculiar interest in Dexter (Michael C. Hall).  To make matters worse, it turns out that Harry didn't construct the vigilante serial killer's code by himself.

According to Carter Matt, the relationship between Dex and Evelyn may have a "motherly aspect" to it, which is something that the former isn't really familiar with.  The dynamic between the two will be a different one for Dexter, as the doctor doesn't appear to be either a killer or a potential flame for him.

Rampling recently explained the rationale behind her character during a recent interview.

"She's needed to reveal a lot of things to Dexter himself. ... The fate of Dexter is a very big question. Fans, they are going to feel very bereaved I think at the end," she said.

Showtime's Dexter is set to make its return on Sunday, June 30 at 9/8 p.m. Central.  Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on America's favorite serial killer.  The Season 8 sit-down with Rampling can be watched below.
