Demi Lovato may have two new female X Factor judges to work with, but she still misses a former one - Britney Spears.

"She was really great and super down-to-Earth," Lovato told The Sun, in an article published on June 4. "I'm going to miss her this season."

The singer said that similar life experiences allowed her to form a close relationship with the 31-year-old mother of two.

"We've definitely bonded, I think because we've been through the same stuff," she said of Spears. "But if we did have a heart-to-heart I probably wouldn't tell a magazine about it. It's pretty obvious that we've been through some of the same things for sure."

Despite Spears being replaced by Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio for season 3, the two stars are still friends. Lovato said she keeps in touch with the Womanizer singer and that their mothers have gotten "super close."

In an interview with PopSugar in 2012, when season 2 was being filmed, Lovato spoke about the first moment that united the 20-year-old with the famous pop icon.

"When I first came into it I was so nervous and then I looked over and she was really nervous too so I was like 'I'm really nervous' and she was like 'me too, I don't know what to do,' " recalled Lovato. "So we kind of like had a moment where we just like 'ok I got your back, we got each other.'"

Lovato revealed her love for Spears' first album, Baby One More Time, during a Late Night With Jimmy Fallon appearance in May.

She added that she would also love to collaborate with the superstar, saying,  "I keep it out there in the universe so hopefully one day it will happen.
