'16 And Pregnant' News: MTV To Reboot Series Or Release New 'Teen Mom' Spinoff? [VIDEO]

Will MTV soon treat fans to another spinoff of 16 & Pregnant or Teen Mom?

According to a recent report, the network was allegedly caught filming in New Jersey earlier this month for what will likely be a new season of 16 & Pregnant or a new installment of the popular Teen Mom franchise.

On July 17, Starcasm shared a report, claiming four or five moms have been followed for the potentially upcoming series.

News of MTV’s reported filming sessions in New Jersey comes just months after the network reportedly issued a casting call from moms in their early 20s whose oldest children were between six and seven-years-old — and another that requested groups of young moms or pregnant moms.

Two years ago, MTV said they were planning to reboot 16 & Pregnant in the near future.

“We are retooling 16 and Pregnant,” head of MTV programming Susanne Daniels said in a statement at the time. “We decided to try something new. 16 and Pregnant was stand-alone episodes [in the past] and we are going to use the Teen Mom format for 16 and Pregnant this season.”

“We find that the Teen Mom ratings build over the course of the season as people get invested, so we thought, ‘Lets just look at that with 16 and Pregnant and see how it goes.’”

While MTV had previously seen success with turning new seasons of 16 & Pregnant into spinoff series, including Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2, their latest spinoff, Teen Mom 3, failed to resonate with fans and was canceled after just one season.
