Debbie Rowe expressed interest in becoming the legal guardian of Paris Jackson but members of Michael Jackson's family are against the idea, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Paris may reportedly want to live with her biological mother because she felt disconnected from her grandmother, Katherine Jackson. Rowe has not made any overtures to replace Katherine as Paris' guardian, but sources said she was open to the idea if the 15-year-old is willing to accept. However, the family may not be as amendable to the change in custody.

Sources connected to the Jackson family believe that Rowe is only interested in the publicity. They cited her statement to the press following Paris' alleged suicide attempt last week. The website added that the Jackson's believed if Rowe was sincere, she would speak to the family and not the press.

Following Paris' alleged suicide attempt, a lawyer made a statement on Rowe's behalf.

"We appreciate everyone's thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family's privacy," attorney Eric George said.

Rowe was also alleged to have gone on a Facebook rant in which she blasted "vultures" and told them to "go to hell" because of attacks against Paris.

On June 7, Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff ordered an investigation into Paris' wellbeing. He wanted the probate court "to prepare a written report and include therein any recommendations relating to the minor child's health, education and welfare."

The judge said that he was alerted about Paris' alleged June 5 suicide through the media. Paris is reportedly recovering since she took as many as 20 ibuprofen pills and cut her wrists, according to a 911 call.

"If it's possible that there is one, then this is the silver lining that has come out of this horrible situation. She now knows she has got to concentrate on looking after herself," a source told E! News Monday.

The insider added that contrary to other reports, the whole family wanted to rally around the teenager and that there was not arguing. They were all working together to ensure her welfare.

"Paris and the whole family are working out how they can move forward from this. Clearly there are some big issues that need to be sorted," the source said.
