Halle Berry and her fiancé Olivier Martinez are expecting a boy, PEOPLE confirmed Wednesday.

Martinez confirmed to the publication that his fiancée is pregnant with their son. The 47-year-old made the announcement at the opening night of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival in Paris, France where he is serving as this year's honorary president.

"My son will be an American, but I remain French," Martinez said.

Martinez reiterated that his son would be a proud American, but also spoke highly of his heritage. He joked about having to walk the red carpets both in the United States and abroad as part of his job. The Unfaithful actor has resided in Los Angeles with his fiancée and her 5-year-old daughter, Nahla, for the past two years but admitted to still feeling out of place.

"I'm French - it's less important," Martinez explained. "Meaning, I remain a Frenchman in America, but I adapt to American culture. I feel good there - but I'm still a foreigner."

Martinez and Berry arrived in Paris on Tuesday. Berry was expected to be the special guest of honor at the film festival Thursday evening and will be showing off her latest baby bump. The Oscar award winning actress surprised many when she confirmed her second pregnancy in April. She told CNN that she was just as taken aback as everyone else.

"I feel fantastic. This has been the biggest surprise of my life to tell you the truth," Berry said.

Berry acknowledged that her age made her believe that having more children was not a possibility. She would often speak about how her daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry would ask for a sibling, but the Monsters Ball actress was not sure she could grant that wish.

"I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful," the actress told CNN.

The actress is reportedly due this fall.
