The first trailer for the Stargate prequel series, Stargate Origins, has arrived and the upcoming digital series is slated to debut February next year.

'Stargate Origins' To Debut On MGM's Digital Service

The upcoming series will comprise of 10 episodes and each episode will be only 10 minutes long, which means the entire season will be the length of a feature film. The series will premiere on MGM's new streaming platform, Stargate Command, on Feb. 15, 2018.

For only a one-time fee of $20, viewers will be able to stream not only the forthcoming series but also all the episodes and films from the science fiction franchise.

'Stargate Origins' Trailer

The Stargate Origins trailer takes fans through shots of a young Catherine Langford (played by Australian actress Ellie Gall) and her adventures, which includes a journey through the Egyptian desert and battles with Nazi soldiers, before revealing the show's official premiere date.

While television shows and films from the Stargate franchise fall under the sci-fi genre, it appears that Stargate Origins has taken inspiration from the Indiana Jones movies.

"From now on, I'm in charge," Gall's character can be heard saying in the trailer as she rises to the forefront of her own story and tries to uncover the mystery behind the extraordinary portal.

MGM's Digital Group unveiled the first look at the series in a BTS reel at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year when it announced the upcoming series. The specific plot details are still not known but fans can start connecting the dots with the help of the trailer.

The Plot

Written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry, Stargate Origins revolves around Catharine Langford, daughter of archeologist Professor Langford, the man whose archaeological dig uncovered the Stargate in 1929. Former Stargate Atlantis cast member Connor Trinneer will reprise his role as Professor Langford in the upcoming series.

In the upcoming series, Catharine sets off on an epic adventure to unlock "the secrets of an ancient technology that could change the very course of humanity."

In addition to Trinneer and Gall, the show's other cast members include the likes of Daniel Rashid, Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Sarah Navratil, Jubilee Gonzalez, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Shvan Aladdin, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.

Mercedes Bryce Morgan, whose credits include Virtual Morality, will be directing the digital series.
