With production on season 17 of Dancing with the Stars well underway, Enstars spoke to the co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet about what she hopes to see on the dance competition - with one Call Me Maybe singer as a frontrunner.

The mother of four confirmed on Thursday that production for the new season has already begun, saying the team behind the show "hardly take a break all year." Though the cast has not yet been picked, she said she thinks producers are in talks of who to bring onto the ABC show.

She has "heard rumors" of a younger audience watching the show going into season 17 than in the past seasons. With that in mind, Burke-Charvet revealed who she would love to see on the show, picking out her favorites.

"It's always exciting to see a new cast join us, it keeps the energy really fresh," said Burke-Charvet. "I've always said I'd like to see Suzanne Summers, Carly Rae Jepsen - I think she would be great - Chris Koffer would be amazing [because] I'm a Glee fan."

Past competitors on the show include former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol Palin, supermodel Paulina Porizkova and magician Penn Jillette.

Season 16 ended in May with country singer Kellie Pickler and her professional dance partner, Derek Hough, taking home the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. Hough was Burke-Charvet's partner when she competed in the show back in season 7 and together they took home the win.

Burke-Charvet admitted that her relationship with Hough makes her root for him perhaps a little more than for the other dancers.

"It's hard not to. I'm always gonna be a little partial to him," she said. "But I also think that he is a brilliant choreographer and he re-invents himself every season, which is so hard to do. He's a fantastic coach and he really has a way of bringing out the absolute best in his partners and making them flawless. "

It was also moving for her to see Pickler accomplish the win, not having dance experience like some of her competitors. Zendaya Coleman is both a dancer and the star of Disney Channel's Shake It Up.  She made it to the top three on DWTS with her partner Val Chermkovisky but ultimately, Pickler and Hough prevailed.

"Watching Kellie win and accomplish that, and not coming from a dance background and to really surprise everyone watching, was very exciting," Burke-Charvet said.

ABC did not confirm a release date for season 17 of Dancing with the Stars, which usually airs Mondays and Tuesdays on the network.

Before the new season of DWTS, Burke-Charvet is joining the Smartfood brand to announce San Francisco as the nation's SMARTest City and kick-off the nationwide search for the SMARTest person. Now on the Smartfood Facebook page, fans can submit someone they know or themselves for the chance to win $10,000 and be featured in SELF magazine.
