Since 2011, television fans eagerly anticipated traveling to Storybrooke to reunite with their favorite fairy tale characters. However, in May, Oncers may need to say goodbye.

'Once Upon A Time' Ends

Once Upon A Time fans received devastating news that their favorite show will come to an end.

Entertainment Weekly stated the network decided to end the fairy tale drama.

"We felt grateful for the opportunity. Obviously, we felt sad that, after seven years of living in this universe, [it's over]," Eddy Kitsis, Once Upon a Time co-creator, told Entertainment Weekly.

Kitsis, along with his fellow co-creator Adam Horowitz, stated that they received forewarning from ABC, and the duo decided that they needed a proper way to end the show.

Breaking The News

Horowitz took to Twitter to announce ABC's decision to cancel the series.

"Seven years ago we set out to create a show about hope, where even in the darkest of times, a happy ending would always be possible," Horowitz wrote.

The showrunner also acknowledged the cast, crew, writers, and ABC Studios who played massive roles in Once Upon A Time's success. Horowitz also recognized the Oncers, the devoted fans of Once Upon A Time, and praised them for accepting as the real magic of the series.

Once Upon A Time's leading lady, Lana Parrilla, took to Instagram and penned an emotional message on how much the show touched fans' lives and thanked them for standing by the show and asked them to keep the show's dominant magic alive.

The Oncers' Reaction

The show's devoted fan base shared their precious memories from the show and thanked Horowitz and Kitsis for all of their hard work.

"Thank you for everything you, and everyone involved, gave us this show. It has been such a light in so many lives, and personally for me, I will forever be grateful you all brought Killian Jones into my life. Hands down my favorite character, in anything, ever," said one Twitter follower.

Some disgruntled fans who previously left the show after several seasons returned and added their commentary into the mix, which lead to numerous debates.

The Final Adventure

Throughout its seven years, Once Upon A Time chronicled everything from the redemption of classic literary villains such as The Evil Queen and the Wicked Witch of the West to traveling to new worlds such as Wonderland, Neverland, and the Land of Untold Stories.

Also, fans got to fall in love with couples such as Snow White and Prince Charming plus Emma Swan and Captain Hook. The show also included a musical episode during their sixth season.

Once Upon A Time will take its viewers back to the Enchanted Forest for one final adventure.

The series is expected to start airing its final episodes on ABC on Friday, March 2.
