The showrunners have come up with a crazy idea to stop fans from spoiling Westworld Season 2. They have agreed to release a video that would contain the plots and twists of the installment.

Controversial Proposal

Co-creator Jonathan Nolan released a statement on Monday through his personal Reddit page about his desire to stop fans from giving theories that turn out to be spoilers for the show. Take for instance fans' theories that Bernard is a host, which turned out to be true.

In his lengthy post, the showrunner revealed his plan to release a video that would contain spoilers for Westworld Season 2 ahead of its premiere on HBO. Nolan hopes that by doing this, fans would keep their knowledge about the installment's story to themselves, similar to how Game of Thrones book readerpreserved spoilers because they already know them.

"I greatly enjoyed watching the friendly folks at this subreddit guess the twists and turns of the season. It creates a larger problem for us, though, in terms of the way your guesswork is reported online. 'Theories' can actually be spoilers, and the line between the two is confusing," Nolan wrote.

The showrunner added that he and the rest of the creators, even including the cast, have thought long and hard, and all agreed with their decision. If fans agree then they are going to release the video that would contain the plot and twists and turns, the whole sordid thing upfront, for Westworld Season 2.

"That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what's 'theory' and what's spoiler," Nolan continued. He trusts that the fans would maintain the secrecy after they watched the video, which he would release only after his post reaches 1,000 upvotes.

More To Come

It is unclear if Nolan was being serious about his controversial proposal or his post was merely for gags. HBO seems to confirm the showrunners' plan when asked for comment. The network acknowledged that the initiative comes from the Westworld showrunners. HBO also teased that there is more to come and suggested that fans should stay tuned to Reddit to find out the creators' next move.

Fans will have to wait to find out if Nolan was being serious with his proposal ahead of the show's return to HBO. Westworld Season 2 premieres on April 22.
