The PBS hit British-American drama, Downton Abbey, continues to draw interest in anticipation for its upcoming fourth season, which won't hit the small screen until 2014.

In May, it had been announced that actor Gary Carr, 26, would be joining the cast as its first African-American in order to don the role of Jack Ross.

Ross is described as an American jazz singer. Recent photos of the character filming a Season 4 scene on a canoe with Lily James (Lady Rose).

Downton creator Julian Fellowes had stated that he was looking to diversify the program and "open it up ethnically a bit," according to Daily Mail. Interesting enough, he was also considering the possibility of adding an Indian character.

Carr is mostly known for his work as police officer Fidel Best in BBC's Death in Paradise, and will join Nigel Harman and opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa as newbie's on the 1920's TV series.

Downton Abbey is slated to kick off in the U.S. on Jan. 5, 2014, and run until February 23, 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the British-American period piece.
