Katie Couric may not be as unhappy with the direction of her talkshow as previous reports suggest.

Couric's daytime show, Katie, has been oft been reported to be traveling in rocky territory and it was recently rumored that the host was displeased with the direction new executive producer Rachel Miskowiec is headed for in the second season.

While Couric reportedly styles herself as a hard news journalist, the daytime talkshow format tends to skew towards more pop-culture oriented features. The New York Daily News quoted insiders as claiming that Miskowiec, who previously worked on the Tyra Banks Show, is planning on heading down the path of fluff news for the next season.

"If there is one thing Katie hates more than being called 'perky,' it's being called 'tabloid,'" the insider told the New York Daily News. "She thinks of herself as a serious journalist, covering stories that make a difference. She's fighting this."

However, The Atlantic Wire has heard from another source that this is not entirely the case.

"Since joining a few weeks ago, Rachel's been exactly what the show needs to develop," the source told The Atlantic Wire. "The idea that Rachel is a problem is ridiculous."

Katie's ratings have seen a fairly steady increase throughout the season and the program has been rated as the top freshman syndicated talker each week since its debut last September.
