Saturday Night Live cast member Seth Meyers is engaged to be married to his longtime girlfriend Alexi Ashe, according to new reports.

Meyers allegedly proposed to Ashe recently, according to a Friday report from Us Weekly, and she said yes. Meyers met Ashe, a human rights lawyer, at a wedding "several years ago" and have been seeing each other ever since. In 2011, a source revealed that marriage was indeed "on the horizon" for the couple, saying that they were "incredibly solid."

"He's very excited for the next phase of his life," said another source close to the couple. "He's known that she's 'The One' for awhile, but it was all about timing."

Meyers has mentioned his girlfriend a few times during the Weekend Update segment of SNL over the years but never by name.

Meyers will be departing from the sketch comedy show after the midseason finale to pursue his new Late Night talk show gig in February 2014. He will be taking Jimmy Fallon's Late Night position while Fallon takes over Jay Leno's The Tonight Show position. Meyers waited until now to propose because of SNL's hectic schedule, according to the source.

"With Late Night, his schedule will be slowly easing up," the source said. "He wanted to do it after SNL wrapped [because] he didn't want to be an absentee fiance. Her family loves him."

Meyers gushed about Ashe in a 2012 interview with Elle magazine, saying, "When my girlfriend and I talk about being happy, I'll get choked up, which I think is the greatest gift you can give a girlfriend."

Meyers has been on SNL since 2001, where he rose from regular cast member to Weekend Update co-anchor with Amy Poehler before taking over the segment solo. He has assumed the sole anchor position since 2007 in addition to being the head writer of the entire show.
