General Motors began testing the 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray in Europe on Thursday, according to GM Authority.

The tests will run two pilot C7s in Germany, Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands for the next two months in preparation for the vehicle's release in European dealerships in late 2013.

Patrick Hermann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe, is reportedly conducting and documenting the tests. He will also share the progress on social media channels Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, using the #C7experience hashtag. The tests are conducted as part of General Motors' quality control program done for every new Chevrolet model before it hits the market, according to the report.

"Corvette is a one of the famed names in automotive history and the new Stingray is the most advanced and capable standard model yet," Herrmann said, according to the news report. "Driving and testing this car is definitely one of the most interesting aspects of my job."

It was recently revealed that the Stingray C7 will take in 29 miles per gallon - 30 with its Eco mode activated - when paired to its seven-speed-manual transmission. The Eco mode surpasses the 30-mpg barrier with the help of Active Four Management, a system that disables four of the car's eight fire-breathing cylinders "during light engine loads," Chevrolet reportedly said.

General Motors announced in early July that it will only produce 500 models of the Corvette Stingray 2014 Premiere Edition vehicles. The Stringray was unveiled in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Mich.
