Jenny McCarthy has officially been named the new co-host to join The View in September.

"We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host on The View starting in September," The View co-host Barbara Walters said in a statement Monday.

"Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor," Walters continued. "She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View."

McCarthy has made 17 different appearances on the show and has guest co-hosted eight times. The 40-year-old former Playboy model said that she was "beyond thrilled" to be joining as a permanent co-host in her own statement Monday.

"I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off," she added.

McCarthy started hosting her own talk show on VH1 in 2013, aptly titled The Jenny McCarthy Show. The first season finale aired on May 24. Presumably, she would be ending the talk show to take on her new position at The View, though she has not confirmed if her show was ending.

The news comes less than a week after conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck left The View after 10 years to assume a position at Fox News morning talk show Fox and Friends. Joy Behar also announced that she would be leaving The View in August after 16 years.

Enstars reported Thursday that co-host Sherri Shepherd might have let it slip that McCarthy was joining The View.

"She'll cause some stuff, so I'm excited about her," Shepherd told TMZ, regarding McCarthy.

The View airs Monday through Friday on ABC at 11 a.m.
