The day has finally come: Demi Lovato will be getting her tonsils removed on Friday.

Earlier in the day, the 20-year-old Heart Attack singer informed everyone via Twitter,  "This is my last day before my tonsils and I part ways."

Lovato, who has been wanting to remain her tonsils for a while, explained why surgery is a must. During an interview with Chatty Man host Alan Carr, Lovato revealed: "The thing is I keep getting sick. Like once a month I get really sick. They're actually not doing me any good, so they're being removed."

In late May, she revealed to MTV how she's going to deal with the pain following the surgery. "I'm gonna do it without painkillers, though, 'cause I'm a boss," she said. "I say that now!"

Even though pain might not scare Lovato, the surgery sure does. "I'm nervous! The whole thing is just really nerve wracking for me. I have a lot of people around me and it's just your tonsils, it's not anything serious. But, anybody that has to have surgery, regardless of how little or small, it doesn't sound fun," she told Wonderwall MSN in a recent interview.

One of the reasons why she didn't go on tour for her new album Demi this summer was because of the surgery. She also has filming to do with the next season of X Factor. "I'm not sure if this year is the best opportunity to [tour] because X Factor keeps me so busy," she told MTV.

Season 3 of X Factor airs the beginning of September. Joining returning judges Lovato and Simon Cowell are new-comers Kelly Rowland and Latin superstar Paulina Rubio.

Demi's new music video, Made in the USA, was released yesterday and already has over 2.7 million views.
