Katie Couric has a successful career, two daughters and a relationships but she is still open to the idea of marriage.

The former Today show host currently works with ABC on her new daytime talk show Katie. At 56-years-old, Couric appears to have reached a solid balance between family and work.

Currently dating John Molner, Couric said in May that she was a little surprised she had not remarried yet. However, after 16 years the journalist is not sure marriage is what she is necessarily pursing at this time.

"Maybe. I'm sort of a traditional person and I always thought I would remarry after my husband died because I had been happily married and I really enjoyed having at partner," Couric told Huffington Post. "But at this point -- at 56 -- with my daughters grown, I'm not sure. But I would totally be open to it."

While Couric believes it is possible to stay in a relationship without going through with the marriage process, she also belives people are morelikly to find it harder to just walk away from a relationship if they are married.

"I've been independent for so long -- my husband died 16 years ago -- [and] I think when children aren't a consideration, I'm just not sure how necessary it is," Couric said, according to Huffington Post.. "But on the other hand, I really like the idea of being in a committed relationship. You can be in a committed relationship without a paper, but I think it's harder to walk away from a relationship that has the benefit of marriage."
