From reality show to scripted show and from basketball player to actor, Kris Humphries will be appearing in the second season of The Mindy Project.

The Boston Celtics player has signed on to guest-star on an upcoming episode of Mindy Kaling's show, TV Guide reported Monday. Humphries will play himself in the scripted segment.

The 28-year-old NBA star was last seen on TV as Kim Kardashian's husband on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kourtney & Kim Take New York. Humphries' and Kardashian's 72-day marriage ended in October 2011, with their divorce finalized in June.

Humphries, who reportedly made $20,000 per episode, might be more excited to film a non-reality TV show. Humphries reportedly wasn't happy while filming KUWTK.

"Kris wants out of filming," an insider told Life & Style in October of 2011. "They've had no time without a camera. He knows he signed up for this, but I think it's weighed on him."

It was also recently announced that Spring Breakers star James Franco will guest-appear on the first two episodes of the comedy show, playing Dr. Paul Leotard. A press release for the episode read, "A former professional fashion model, Dr. Leotard radically altered his career goals after he accidentally walked off a runway at fashion week and was saved by a pregnant woman. From that day forward, he devoted himself to helping pregnant women and immediately applied to medical school."

Adam Pally from ABC's Happy Endings will also make a guest appearance this season and will play a doctor for a multi-episode arc.

"The hilarious and wonderful @adampally is coming to #themindyproject! Rah rah!" Kaling tweeted about Pally's role.

The new season of The Mindy Project premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX.
