Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Melissa Fumero is set to star in a new Netflix comedy series.

Melissa Fumero made a name for herself playing Detective Amy Santiago on the well-loved television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She is now moving out of Brookyn and into Blockbuster. Blockbuster is a new workplace comedy set in, you guessed it, a Blockbuster. A Deadline article announced that Fumero will be playing a working mother named Eliza. She attended Harvard, but she left early for her family. For those who were missing watching Fumero play hyper-intelliegent characters, it sounds like we are in store for more!

The former Brooklyn Nine-Nine detective will star alongside Randall Park. Park is best known for his work in the hilarious comedy series Fresh Off the Boat and the 2019 romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe. He is also known by The Office fans around the world for pretending to be Jim in one episode of the show.

Blockbuster was created by the incredible Vanessa Ramos. Similarly to Fumero, Ramos also worked on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She served as a writer-producer on the series. Paymen Benz, who will executive produce and direct four episodes, had a similar experience. He worked as an episodic director on the show.

We are going to be seeing a lot more of Melissa Fumero on our screens. She just finished filming alongside the iconic Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom in the comedy Bar Fight. Fumero has certainly come a far way from being one of Blair Waldorf's minions on Gossip Girl. (True fans remember!)

We can't wait to see Blockbuster when it hits our screens!
