With the Saturday Night Live shakeup and his upcoming takeover of Jimmy Fallon's Late Night, Seth Meyers has a packed year in front of him.

Following the departure of Saturday Night Live cast mates Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, Meyers is optimistic that a bit of fresh blood will be reinvigorating for the sketch comedy.

"It's certainly a rebuilding effort, but I don't think it's any bigger than ones that have happened historically," Meyers told TV Line on Wednesday. "[It's] a really exciting time to be at the show. I'm really glad I'm going back for the first half of next year."

The current Weekend Update host stated that his favorite season on the NBC program (2005-2006) was also a rebuilding year, a time when SNL viewers were first introduced to Hader, Kristen Wiig, and Andy Samburg, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As much as Meyers is looking forward to a new season of shenanigans on SNL, the comedian is also hard at work preparing for his fast approaching role as Late Night host. Although he will not take over the position until the end of the 2014 Winter Olympics, planning is already well underway.

While the 39-year-old does not plan on abandoning the current tried and true late night format, he will be implementing new elements from his SNL and Weekend Update background, according to The Hollywood Reporter. With a writer-centric approach, Meyers will spend time on fake news, topical humor, and character sketches.

Don't worry though; he isn't planning on eliminating the monologue.
