Cynthia Nixon is making it known how she feels about the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal.

The former Sex and the City actress, who is always politically active, has publically showed her support for New York mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio. At a fundraiser for de Blasio in May the actress said she thought it might be time for Weiner to drop out of the mayoral race after his latest leaked photo scandal, E! News reported on July 31.

At the VH1's Do Something Awards, Nixon told E! News, "I don't really know what to say about that...I think there are people that are hoping that Anthony Weiner would get out of the race. I don't think he's going to, but it's his decision."

Nixon explained, "He should let the voters decide. I think that's a legitimate point of view. Personally, I would like him to get out of the race, but I understand his point of view."

The actress was attending the Do Something Awards to honor her friend and fellow actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who was recognized for his marriage equality organization Tie the Knot.

"I am very excited," Nixon told reporters. "I haven't seen him since he got married, so I'll see if he looks different. But his organization Tie the Knot is so great, so genius and I think it's wonderful that VH1 is noting it and bringing attention to it. So I wanted to be here to honor him, too."
