Real Housewives of New York is seeing some changes or, rather, some additions.

The central cast of The Real Housewives of New York is time tested and notorious. The core group of women has been allowing the world audience into their private lives for the last 13 years, running longer than any other branch of the Real Housewives universe. Much like the old money foundations that still run deep in the city itself, the original cast of RHONY is unforgettable and irreplaceable.

And therein lies the problem Bravo found itself faced with. The introduction of new cast members was always met with antipathy and strife. After over a decade of established banter, it can be difficult for a newcomer to fight their way in. The network, with mass amounts of input from the fans, debated what to do.

Two camps were ultimately established. One wanted the same core group to stay. The other wanted to see a complete overhaul of the cast. Instead of choosing one of the other, Bravo had decided to do both.
