Mae Whitman is singing her way to Hulu as she is set to star in Up Here, a new musical series coming to the streaming service.

Hulu is about to get a lot more musical. According to an exclusive on Deadline, multi-talented Mae Whitman is set to front a new musical series. Up Here is set in New York City in the year 1999. It is written by Stephen Levenson. Levenson also wrote the film adaptations of Tick, Tick...Boom! starring Andrew Garfield and Dear Evan Hansen starring Ben Platt. It is, as so many of the great musicals are, a love story.

The story will chronicle the relationship between Lindsay and Miguel through the ebbs and flows of their relationship and their fight to be together. The role of Lindsay will be taken on by Whitman. The character follows the well beloved arc of good-girl-breaking-free-from-her-small-town-world. We are sure that Whitman will give the role a unique spin that is all her own.

Whitman's resume speaks for itself. She was recently a leading role in the series Good Girls. She has been in the entertainment industry since she was three years old. In an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Whitman discussed how her parents made sure that she was ready to dive into an adult world, full of intense moments and swear words. They sat a young Whitman down, explained the bad words she was likely to hear, and told her she should never use them. Of course she immediately ran over and told her neighbor the list.

This hilarious juxtaposition between sweet and salty is what continues to make Mae Whitman a ferociously compelling actor. We can't wait to see what she brings to Up Here.
