For those worried that you would never get the chance to see former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a regional theater production of Into the Woods, don't fret! The former First Lady has now been cast in Arkansas Repertory Theatre's production of the classic Stephen Sondheim work.

The politician will play the off-stage role of The Giant. (Performers everywhere have spoken up to reassure the Senator: there are no small parts, only small actors.)

In reality, it is likely that Clinton will be pre-recording her role, which many who have played The Giant previously have.

According to an article on Broadway World, Clinton's love of musical theater, and her ties to Arkansas - where she was once First Lady of the state - have come together to bring her to the stage. She has spoken about the power of theater to groups previously: In 2020, she spoke in a theater at a Women's Day event, saying:

"I feel a strong obligation to keep talking about the great unfinished business of the 21st century: namely expanding the rights, opportunities and full participation in every aspect of society by women and girls...And of course that includes the theater.

"No matter what was happening, there was nothing like sinking into a seat, feeling the excitement and the anticipation as the lights went down and being transported out of our crazy world for at least a little while. And it's really one of my most cherished roles, being an audience member."

This time, however, she will be on the stage in what is shaping up to be an excellent production. This adaptation of Into the Woods boasts a powerful creative team which is sure to make it a success. Addie Gorlin-Han will direct, Michael Rice will musical direct, and Dorse Brown will choreograph.

We can't to see former Senator Hillary Clinton take the stage. The production will take place from April 19th-May 15th. Tickets can be found here
