Macbeth, starring Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga, opened on Broadway last night.

Life may be, "but a walking shadow," but last night the stars of the Broadway run of Macbeth walked the red carpet in full daylight to celebrate the opening of their show. This production of one of Shakespeare's most well-beloved (and most haunted) plays started its limited run at the Longacre Theatre.

The classic composition is helmed by two stars of the screen: The former James Bond actor Daniel Craig takes on the tragic hero Macbeth, and Loving's Ruth Negga plays his power-hungry wife.

Like any production of Macbeth - as is the foundation for the long-standing superstition surrounding the famed show - it was not without its off-stage complications. Several preview performances were canceled as Daniel Craig tested positive for Covid-19.

He is now healthy again, however, and opening night was able to go on without a problem.

Craig is excited to be performing the role, having taken it on once before - thirty years ago in drama school. He is also eagerly bringing his own interpretation to the part.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Craig shared that he believes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are "the only really decent couple married in Shakespeare, and they are very much in love...They're very ambitious, and if it wasn't for a little murder, they'd actually be a pretty good pair."

One dang murder getting in the way of a true OTP.

Macbeth is running at the Longacre Theatre until July 10th, 2022.
