Many fans are still gushing over Kim Kardashian's simple yet ethereal look at this year's Met Gala, where she wore the iconic crystal-embedded gown originally owned by Marilyn Monroe. However, some online users accused the reality star of destroying the piece of history; what happened?

According to The U.S. Sun, many critics are furious after a video of the KKW Beauty founder fitting into the dress made rounds online.

The TV star visited Ripley's Believe It Or Not in Orlando, Florida, to try on the gown personally. The dress, which cost a whopping $5 million, was pulled out from the museum ten days before the Met Gala.

In the video, a group of people can be seen doing their best for Kardashian's behind to fit the dress; they were unsuccessful at first as it couldn't hold her butt.

The group was forced to leave the back of the gown open and unzipped so they won't damage the priceless piece of history.

Sources reveal the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star wore the exact dress on the red carpet but immediately changed into a replica for the rest of the night.

The dress was also not cleaned after the blonde bombshell wore it over six decades ago.

Even though many people were amazed by how Kardashian pulled off her fashion moment for the evening, Reddit fans were unhappy with what she did, claiming that she 'destroyed' the dress.

"It was a stupid, stupid choice. All of it, and shame of vogue for having it in their magazine. I'm just stunned so many put her on their best-dressed list. Anyone that does losses any credibility in my eyes," a furious fan wrote.

"What a shame. And yeah, I'm being a Karen over a dress and I don't even like Marylin. but I don't like ruining artifacts either," another one wrote.

As of this writing, Kim Kardashian has not responded to any of the accusations.

Ripley's Believe or Not has also not confirmed whether the dress was destroyed.

Kardashian worked hard to fit into the dress as she revealed in the red carpet interview that she had to force herself to lose weight.

She constantly worked out and removed all sugar and carbs from her diet to do this.

She clarified that she didn't starve herself in the process, but she was "so strict."
