Dave Chappelle was attacked during his set at the Hollywood Bowl during the Netflix is a Joke festival by an audience member with a weapon. The comedian has now revealed more details about the event that took place.

Chappelle has become the second comedian in just over a month to be attacked by an audience member during their performance. While he was performing during the Netflix is a Joke festival, an audience member stormed the stage, slamming into the comedian. He also had with him a fake gun that, when the trigger was pulled, released a knife.

At a private show, Chappelle gave more specifics about the events of the other night.

While he was performing at the Comedy Store, the comedian shared that, after the attack, a lot of love came pouring out for him. He shared that right after coming off of the stage, his son came over to him, hugged him, and said, "Dad, I love you." This was not the only person to come to Chappelle after the attack. He joked,

"A lot of people love me, it turns out."

Of course, he had to make a joke referencing the comedian attack of earlier this year, where Will Smith smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith's hair. Chappelle jested:

"At least you got smacked by someone of repute! I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair."

Violence is never the answer, and these uncalled for actions need to be brought to an immediate end.

That being said, we are glad that those who have borne the brunt of it have found ways to joke about it.
