Kim Kardashian donned Marilyn Monroe's famous gown to the 2022 Met Gala.

When Marilyn serenaded then-President John F. Kennedy on his birthday, she almost looked the part, squeezing into the blonde bombshell's famous gown.

However, one piece appears to be lacking for the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum to complete the Marilyn Monroe appearance.

She couldn't compete with Marilyn Monroe's poofy curls, but a source told Hollywood Life why Kim didn't make it happen.

According to an insider, the mother-of-four was determined to replicate Marilyn Monroe's appearance at this year's Met Gala. In fact, Kim allegedly refused to wear a wig because she wanted to seem as natural as possible.

This is why she spent many weeks working with her hairstylists to achieve the right platinum blonde color on her hair.

Unfortunately, the color damaged the KKW Beauty mogul's hair, and while she hoped to curl her new locks like Marilyn, it was allegedly not meant to be.

The insider told the site, "There was a lot of spotting in her hair, and the color was all over the place. Kim's hair was falling off so badly that wearing it in large curls was no longer a possibility."

"At that point, all they could do was smooth it all the way back and hope no one saw how awful it had gotten."

Kim Kardashian and her beauty squad had no choice but to put her hair up in a ballerina bun.

Despite the hair turmoil, she pulled off an interesting twist of Marilyn Monroe's nude-colored gown.

She also managed to convey the timeless, Old Hollywood aura that the Met Gala's theme assigned this year.

Meanwhile, the source added she would just have to cover up the extensive hair loss and spots caused by the rigorous dyeing she had to undertake in recent weeks.

She will eventually have to return to her original and darker hair color, but it will still be damaged.

So, despite the fact that it is not the ideal alternative, the former Mrs. Kanye West will have to wear hair extensions.

However, the insider pointed out that she doesn't have many alternatives at this moment.
