Paris Hilton is stepping into the political arena, advocating for a federal law to put an end to institutional child abuse.

Paris Hilton is speaking out to put an end to institutional child abuse - abuse that she was made to suffer when she was sixteen years old. Her powerful words point to a glaring and heartbreaking problem in the world today that demands to be rectified.

After being diagnosed with ADD, (Attention Defecit Disorder, a neurodivergency now classed under the broader 'ADHD' label,) Hilton's parents were, in her words, "conned into believing that my diagnosed attention deficit disorder behavior would be fixed with 'tough love.'"

At these institutions, children were subject to various horrific forms of abuse and sexual assault.

After moving through several of these institutions, Hilton was sent to Provo Canyon School.

At Provo, she and other children there were forced to suffer routine "gynacological checks" and other various abuses. If they did not comply, they were sent to a cold, solitary, cinderblock room, refered to as Obs, with only a drain and a roll of toilet paper. Hilton shared:

"I was forced to remove all my clothes, squat and cough, and submit to a gynecological exam - all watched closely by male staff. Although it was an extremely uncomfortable experience, I was led to believe it was a legitimate, routine check for contraband. But what I couldn't understand as a 16-year-old girl was why that internal exam would be done to me frequently during my time at Provo, and only during the middle of the night.

"I was repeatedly awakened by staff shining a bright flashlight in my face, pulled out of bed and told to be quiet as I was ushered down my dorm's hallway to an 'exam room.' Sleep-deprived and heavily medicated, I didn't understand what was happening.

"I was forced to lie on a padded table, spread my legs and submit to gynecological exams. I remember crying while they held me down. I kept saying, 'No!' and asking, 'Why?' They just said, "Shut up. Be quiet. Stop struggling or you'll go to Obs.'"

Children had their jaws broken, were chained to poles outside, were made to eat their own vomit, and were forced to suffer a litany of other maltreatments all while the company raked in money and the rest of the world turned a blind eye. This needs to come to an end.
