The original cast of Spring Awakening reunited at last night's Tony Awards.

The 75th Annual Tony Awards which took place last night at Radio City Music Hall were a memorable and historic event. Wins including that from Michael R. Jackson, Toby Marlow, and Deirdre O'Connell made history. Their iconic wins establish a strong foundation from which the make-up of the Broadway world could change. The theater world took major steps into the future last night.

While they moved into the future, that did not mean they did not bring back flashes of the past.

The original cast of Spring Awakening united together again to perform one of the show's most iconic numbers, "Touch Me." The performers included Lea Michele, Jonathan Groff, Skylar Astin, and many others. This is not the first time that this cast has taken the Tony stage. Back in 2007 when the show was on Broadway, they performed a medley that included hits ranging from "Mama Who Bore Me" to "The Bitch of Living." Now, fifteen years down the line, the opted for a far gentler number.

Spring Awakening seems to keep finding its way back to the theatrical conversation. At the start of May, HBO released a documentary titled Spring Awakening: Those You've Known which followed the iconic cast during their reunion concert. The question is why? Why, after this many years, is Spring Awakening continually easing its way back onto center stage? Could we be getting ready for a Broadway revival?

This is 10000% speculation. (But we think we're right!)
