In another round of, "how odd can the Kanye West Saga get?" it seems the former Mrs. Kim Kardashian has apparently come out of hiding and this time it was for a reason other than to pat himself on the back. Sort of.

Having not heard from the rapper in a little while, West decided to come out of solitude to honor his long-time friend and colleague Sean "Diddy" Combs with The Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday Night. But don't worry, fans, he kept it bizarre as usual.

Coming out on stage in a full face covering, dark shades, and a ball cap, Kanye, of course, made it about himself, at first:

"I took a little hiatus. I said I wanted to declare myself legally dead for a year. Nobody missing me. You know, I just want to be off the grid, [but] Puff is pretty persistent."

Quickly changing the subject back to Diddy, West continued to sing the praises of the legendary producer,

"This man has been through and survived a lot of stuff. Broke down a lot of doors so we could be standing. I know for me, that I could be here today... he broke down so many doors of classism, taste, swag. Puff, if I never told you, I love you. You're my brother."

He later added to the adulation,

"I go to him for advice to this day. He inspired so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices."

At least West can now laugh about that last part.

The award was then presented by fellow musician Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and West, where Diddy gave a heartfelt acceptance speech thanking those who supported him in his career, including his late ex-girlfriend Kim Porter. He said this of his long road to fame,

"When I was a kid, I saw these images that were setting me up for failure, these images that were making me feel less than a dog. I was like, 'Man I'm not with that. I'm not with that.' I closed my eyes and dreamed and saw what I had to do. We here for ourselves, we here for our ancestors, you feel me?"
