Nicholas Brendon Hospitalized: Is It Due To Substance Abuse or An Underlying Condition?
Nicholas Brendon is said to be in the hospital.
This came following a second "cardiac event" in the midst of his chronic health issues.
The 51-year-old actor, who played Xander in the 1990s television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," was transported to the hospital for treatment and is now recuperating and "focused on medical appointments."
In an Instagram message on his behalf, his sister detailed what happened to the actor.
She shared a sequence of photos showing Brendon being carried to the hospital on a stretcher before being transferred to a wheelchair, as well as a third photo of him waiting to be seen in a bed.
The cousin also wrote a lengthy message stating that this was her brother's second heart event since undergoing surgery.
"Nicky conveyed his love and asked me to apologize for not going live as much lately and to inform everyone."
This is the latest medical concern for the troubled actor, whose personal troubles have overshadowed his work, with Brendon getting arrested many times in the last 10 years and being pushed into treatment twice.
Brendon hadsurgery in 2021 after having "paralysis in his genitals" and legs. His manager said it was because he was caught for prescription fraud and forced to sleep in a concrete-floored detention cell.
He used a false name to attempt to obtain restricted substance prescription medicines and for refusing to identify himself when stopped by an Indiana police officer.
His spinal troubles were reportedly exacerbated by his arrest.
In the same year, his manager, Theresa Fortier, stated that Nicholas Brendon had been forced to withdraw from all marketing for his next film because to paralytic concerns.
He was said to be unable to walk due to "deep-seated physical difficulties and severe discomfort."
Brendon also intended to recover from the off-screen turmoil in order to promote his new film "Wanton Want," but he was disappointed after experiencing severe medical concerns.
He is also claimed to have had Cauda equina syndrome, a disorder in which the nerve roots in the lumbar spine get compressed, impairing mobility, sensation, and, in some cases, function of the genitals, bladder, and intestines.
Nicholas Brendon appeared in every episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" save one. He also appeared in "Criminal Minds" till 2007 and has five projects in the works.
