Brad Pitt had an unexpected encounter with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie's father and brother amid the ex-couple's contentious custody battle.

On Friday, Pitt attended "Moneyball" director Bennett Miller's art exhibit at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills, where he crossed paths with Jolie's father, Jon Voight, and her brother, James Haven.

"Brad seemed like he was in a good mood and happy at the Bennett Miller event at the Gagosian," one unnamed eyewitness told Entertainment Tonight.

Pitt spent most of his time at the exhibit chatting with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, and other attendees but "did not speak to Jon," the source added.

Another anonymous eyewitness shared to the outlet that Pitt and his girlfriend "were sweet together and stayed close to each other throughout the event."

An unnamed eyewitness claimed to The Sun that many attendees thought it was "awkward" that Pitt was in the same room as Jolie's dad and brother, considering the limited space.

Haven was reportedly "amicable and acknowledged" Pitt, but there was minimal interaction between them, with both mostly engaging with friends.

The event also had other notable attendees, including Britney Spears' ex, Sam Asghari, who posed for a photo with Pitt and later engaged in a conversation with Jolie's family.

Asghari shared the snap on Instagram, captioning it: "At the #bennettmiller @gagosian with some cool people last night. Also got a lot of skincare tips from Brad Pitt #notwaxfigure."

Pitt's rare public appearance with de Ramon comes a month after his 60th birthday celebration, during which the couple enjoyed a romantic getaway in Paris.

Pitt and Jolie, who share kids Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 18; Shiloh, 17; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, have been embroiled in a series of legal disputes since announcing their split in 2016.

While they were declared single in 2019, their custody battle over their minor children has yet to be resolved.

Jolie's brother recently opened up about his protectiveness of his sister's children since the former Hollywood power couple's divorce.

"I set my life up so I can be present with whatever the situation," Haven shared during an interview on the "90who10" podcast. "I want to be there for them or for her -- whatever she's going through."
