Fans continue to speculate on just who will end up being cast for the future blockbuster, Star Wars: Episode VII.

As it turns out, actor Matt Damon, who's currently promoting Elysium, has been a big fan of the popular franchise since childhood.

In an exclusive video, the 42-year-old recently spoke to MTV about the flick, and also praised director J.J. Abrams in the process.

"I'm happy that [director] J.J. [Abrams] is doing it. I remember when they made the second batch [starting in 1999], and I was so kind of nervouse about it. Ultimately I think that the first three - they exist and nothing can affect them, so why not? If you can get a J.J. Abrams to - if you can get buy-in from him, then that's the best shot of [getting the film on the right path]. So yeah, I'm a big fan," he said.

Although Damon didn't say whether or not he was pursuing a part in the future blockbuster movie, almost every A-list actor has been buzzed about for a role in the Star Wars franchise.

In other Star Wars news, actor Ray Park (Darth Maul) also praised Abrams, who he said he's been acquainted with for quite some time.

"I think it's great that J.J. is doing it. I've known for many years that he's a big Star Wars fan. What he's done for Star Trek is phenomenal. I think he's the right man for the job and I'm ecstatic that Star Wars is coming back," he added.
