Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis in a solo video, and there might be a reason why Prince William wasn't there with her.

Judi James, a body language expert who regularly appears on several high-profile TV and radio programs across many channels, including BBC News, Sky News, GB News and CNN, weighed in on the Princess of Wales' video announcing her cancer diagnosis.

The expert said the royal mother of three "looked pale and rather drawn," but the clip featuring her sans her husband was "one of the bravest solo speeches of any royal in history." Thus, Prince William's absence could be deliberate to highlight Middleton's strength.

"The fact she sits alone is a testament to her strength and courage. Despite her obvious frailty, there are many signs of ongoing strength, determination and firmness in her non-verbal signals," James told Page Six. "And it appears that the mother-of-three hasn't lost her sense of humor."

According to the "Body Language Bible" author, one of Middleton's eyebrows was raised, which was "an expression of some humor." She added that Middleton was serious when she asked for "time, space and privacy to recovery."

"Her lips purse and pucker to show she means (that)," James continued.

James also noted how Middleton flashed a "faint smile of affection" upon the mention of her husband's name. According to the expert, it was "a great source of comfort and reassurance."

The Prince and Princess of Wales' marriage had been subjected to various rumors following her absence from the spotlight. Prince William's alleged affair with Rose Hanbury, which made headlines in 2019, resurfaced. TV presenter Stephen Colbert even mentioned it on his "Late Night Show."

"As we were talking about this show yesterday, the kingdom has been all fluttered by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate's absence may be related to her husband's and the future king of England, William, having an affair," Colbert said.

"So, I think we all know who the alleged other woman is -- say it with me -- The Marchioness of Cholmondeley ... now, there have been rumors of an affair between William and [Hanbury] since 2019," he added.

The Marchioness of Cholmondeley responded to the speculations by denying them. Hanbury's lawyers reportedly called the rumors "completely false."

In Middleton's announcement, she said that her abdominal surgery was successful. However, after several tests, they learned that "cancer had been present." She admitted that the diagnosis "came as a huge shock" and she was advised to undergo preventative chemotherapy.

"My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," Middleton said. "William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."
