Tammy's fans were impressed after seeing her slimmer frame. Many took to the comments section to let her know how happy they were for her amid her weight loss progress.

"Dang! Lookin [sic] good," one commented with a purple heart emoji. Another added, "YES MA'AM GET IT TAMMY!!!!!!!!!"

Tammy and her older sister, Amy, were both obese and had a combined weight of over 1000 pounds, earning them their own reality show, "1000-Lb Sisters" on TLC.

Between the two, Amy achieved her weight goal earlier while Tammy struggled and even had a medical health scare, prompting her to concentrate on losing weight before going under the knife. She eventually lost enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery. She had the surgery in July 2022 and was down to 285 pounds after weighing 725 pounds at her heaviest, People reported.

In the "1000-Lb Sisters" Season 3 finale, Tammy hit rock bottom. She suddenly stopped breathing when her brother dropped her off at a weight loss rehab facility in Ohio, where she was supposed to focus on her health after struggling with depression, heavy drinking and vaping.

Tammy was hospitalized, put on a ventilator and placed in a medically induced coma. She woke up days later, and the reality star admitted that the incident was life-changing for her.

"My near-death experience has taught me not to take life for granted," Slaton told People. "I now live my life how I want to and not how others want me to."

"I'm grabbing the bull by the horns and taking control of my life again and not letting my body defeat me. I told y'all that this wasn't the end of me," Slaton added. "The new and improved Tammy is on the way."

Tammy spent 14 months at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio, where she met her late husband, Caleb Willingham.
In November 2023, Amy shared a photo of her with Tammy flaunting their slimmer frames. In the snap, they were seated on the steps with their backs against each other while holding hands and smiling at the camera.

"1000lbs sisters vs the world," Amy wrote in the caption ahead of the premiere of "1000-Lb Sisters" Season 5.

In one episode of "1000-Lb Sisters" Season 5, Tammy shared her first flight experience. She bought two adjacent seats and was surprised that she fit in one seat.

"When I actually got on the plane and sat down and was comfortable, I was kind of surprised that I didn't need both seats that we paid for," Tammy said.

The fifth season wrapped up in February, but TLC will reportedly continue to document Amy and Tammy's weight loss. According to The Sun, the reality stars have already started filming "1000-Lb Sisters" Season 6.
