Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton are trying to reconcile their relationship.

According to reports, after dating the racecar driver for five years, then calling it quits last month, Scherzinger is hoping to get back on good terms with her ex-boyfriend. 

The Mirror's Sunday People reported that the two met up at the X Factor judge's Beverly Hills mansion last month for a few days and discussed "how to make their relationship work long-distance."

"Both Nicole and Lewis had a bit of time off so it was the perfect time to meet," a source said. "After the split he was devastated so when he suggested that he fly out to see Nicole, he was delighted she said yes. He went to her house in Los Angeles to talk things through and both thought it was a great success. It was the last opportunity when they could spend time together and talk through their future."

The couple, who recently took time off from their relationship, due to their busy work schedules, has apparently decided to reunite, because they are miserable apart.

"They desperately want to be ­together but they know that from now until Christmas is going to be really tough. They're both willing to give it their best shot and try to make a success of it though."

The Daily Mail reported that the X Factor judge was in tears, during the UK boot camp stage of the competition, at Wembley Arena last week. 

She looked gorgeous, but she was in a somber mood as she left her London hotel on Tuesday morning. She didn't smile for photographers, while exiting the hotel in skin-tight jeans and gold sandals. See photos here:

Hamilton seemed to hint at his feelings for his former lover in July, two weeks after they broke up. 

"If you've found that special someone, don't EVER let them go no matter what!! Nothing in this world is more important," he tweeted last week.
